Flower, Bubbles and Sidewalk Chalk Art

When I read the following poem, I knew exactly who it reminded me of. Riley! She and I spent this afternoon drawing chalk art on her Mom's back patio. We drew balloon, kittens, flowers and trees. Then we rested and blew bubbles and enjoyed a chat. We had a great afternoon together.

Little Girls

Little girls are made of daisies and butterflies and soft kitty cat purrs
And all the precious memories of times that once were.

Little girls are made of angel's wings and giggles and a firefly's glow
And all the happy feelings, deep inside, that we all know.

Little girls are made of cinnamon and bubbles and fancy white pearls
And snowflakes and rainbows and ballerina twirls.

Little girls are made of sunshine and cupcakes and fresh morning dew,
And these are the reasons, little one, why everyone loves you.

We started off alil stiff, Riley is shy but I got a feeling this pretty lil lady is a bit of a tomboy. She had no trouble jumping over the tree trunks and fallen limbs in the areas we were shooting. Its a hidden wooded area behind her house. Very haunted looking from the street, but beyond the entrance, it opened into a mystical place. Very open and airy once inside. It was actually a very cool place to shoot. I liked to using the woods for the backdrop, it gave depth to her photograph. Discovering new sights for sessions is always interesting. You never know how the subject will interact with the space around them, usually it shows on their face and in turn, the photograph. I think we did good with this sight, it served us well today. I'm very happy with the session we had. Riley is a pure joy to be around.

During our adventure to discover new places for photo sessions, we came to an entrance with a sign that stated, private property. I so wanted to continue, but I didn't want to break the law or get into trouble for trespassing so we stopped. I couldn't turn around because we had ditches on both sides and it was a small narrow road, so I parked and turned off the car. We got out and I made the decision to use the gravel road for our next set of photos. I could tell Riley was nervous not knowing where we were. So, I started to brag to her that she was a fabulous rock star and she should rock this photo session with some sass & attitude. I don't know about you, but I think she rocked it ok! Her personality totally switched on and she had her hands on her hips and modeled for me like a rock star.

With Riley's session I have many favorites, but this one really stands out for me because I saw how much fun she was having collecting flowers during the session. She is such a darlin.

we worked really hard on this particular photo...lol. She tried so hard to look up at me, but the sun was out just enough she couldn't do it. We tried closing your eyes for a minute, then popping them open all bright, but it still didn't work. I think its still a cute picture, squinting eyes and all!

Thank you for a beautiful afternoon of bubbles, sidewalk chalk art, girl talk and flower picking my precious sweet girl!

Elizabeth Mitchell

I wanted to share this because I absolutely love her sound and her songs are just buckets of sweetness!

Mad about Madison

Ever see the sunshine in someones face? Well every time you look at Madison, your heart becomes elated and overjoyed. This wasn't Madison's first photo session. I had the honor to capture her once before when only a few months old. Now as then, I was positively wrapped in sweetness as I photograph this adorable lil girl.

She makes this easy, doesn't she?. LOL Well we had a time getting her to keep the hat(above) on long enough to capture a photo of her in it. Mom will slide it on, and work to distract her from it being there. I guess the fuzzy accessory was what kept her attention on the hat. Obviously we got the shot, and wow..look at that smile!

Madison loved the wooded area we did her second half of her shoot. She was having lots of fun exploring the floor of the wooded hideaway. Carefully, we allowed her to have a few playful moments, rewarding her for doing such a great job during her session. Have I ever mention I love babies?..LOL

As I raided Madison's closet for wardrobe choices, I came across this gorgeous dress. Quickly it became a front runner of dresses because I loved the style of it. It reminded me of dresses that, well Mom used to put on me when I was alil girl(I'm getting old). Dressing Madison, her mom and I discussed the dress and I learned that this dress was made by her Great-Grandmother. I was happy that I got to capture such a sweet photo of Madison in a dress made with LOVE.Sometimes the story isn't in the photo, its in the dress. But this photo will help to share that story and along with the dress, become an heirloom for next generations to share.

This is my favorite of Madison's photo session today. I love all the soft textures against the wooded background. Makes ya wanna pack her up and take her home with ya!

Its a Doggie World

These lil furry friends are our babies Diamond & Princess Buttercup. Diamond has been with us since Christmas 2008 and Princess Buttercup joined our family in Spring of 2010. Both of our ladies have completely different personalities. Diamond, much more mature than Buttercup, is coming into adulthood and doesnt run around as much as she used to. Princess Buttercup on the other hand LOVES to make a mess, just like a kid, RUN & PLAY, just like a kid, and SCREAM & YELL, just like a kid. She very much loves to be the center of attention. Diamonds favorite thing to do is sit in your lap and be held like a baby and talked to. She welcomes you to wrap her up in a blankie and rock her to sleep. SHE LOVES IT! Buttercup however, wants to jump and run, her favorite game is throw her squeeker mailbox toy and over and over and over and over again..LOL.
Diamond is a Shih Tzu & Maltese mix breed, and Buttercup is full blood Shih Tzu. We love our babies to death. And couldnt imagine our days without them. They welcome you home each day with overwhelming unconditional love. Its a truly amazing thing to have a creature that can say no words, still show you loads of love.
As I sit here writing this blog I can hear them upstairs running around like craziness. Buttercup is well known for her going into the bathroom and pulling the toilet tissue across the house. Her tiny lil teeth will shred a piece of tissue into a zillion little pieces. It just blows my mind!

Princess Buttercup

Together they are companions and best friends. Apart they are lost and lonesome. Either will cry for the other if one is gone. They are a pair these two.

Diamond is a gentle spirit. Very loving and sweet. I've noticed with her growing older she isnt as welcoming to strangers as she was a few years ago. But shes always loved to be held and loved on by her family.

Little One

Although photographing babies are alot of work, they are one of my favorite subjects to photograph. When working with an infant you have to be patient, careful, and willing to dumped on, sometimes literally LOL. Its ok, I'm a mom first so it isnt a big deal to me. But when they start crying, WOW..watch out! Often times when I have a frustrated little one, I take what I can get. Its part of the personality, so why not capture..the TEMPER! But for the most part, babies are either in a great smiling mood or in a peaceful slumber during their session. Either way, I love aiming my lens at them and capturing a tiny piece of what makes us love them.

Do you have children or know of someone expecting or with children already? Please refer them to me for thier next family or little one portraits. Also, dont forget to become a follower of my blog. You can find the link at the bottom of the page to become a follower. I appreciate you taking the time to admire  and support my work.

Favorite 2011 Summer Adventure

Well the summer of 2011 has come to a close, and looking back I wanted to post a few photographs from my favorite adventure from this summer. My first real visit to Cincinnati, Ohio. We stayed four days and toured the city, played at the park, and discovered its a zoo out there! Here are some of my favorite photos from our visit to Cincy.

The Tyler Davidson Fountain, also known as Center Square Fountain, was dedicated in 1871. A beautiful centerpiece for a beautiful city.
This was my favorite thing to photograph in the city the evening we explored. I fell in love with the romanticism of the fountain. People would just sit, alone, and admire it for hours. It amazes me that something like this can bring so many people from all walks of life together in one place, and nothing need be said, just contentment.  It is a wonderful things to see in person. You may also reconize it from the late 1970's comedy show WKRP in Cincinnati. It was shown in the opening scene each episode.

KINGS ISLAND
a great place to relax, exert yourself, and get really wet!  We did all three..LOL. These are a few of my favorite photos from our trip there. We were kinda busy jumping on and off rides, so I didnt get to take many.

Now my FAVORITE part of Cincinnati..the ZOO!

OMG! I'm 40 yrs old and the only zoo I've ever visited in my life was Louisville Zoo. I just never had the opportunity to visit others zoos before now, and all I can say is WOW. It is a spectacular zoo. PLEASE visit it as soon as you can. The staff was extremely pleasant, and we went on a really hot day. I was happy that we chose to visit during the week and there were no crowds. Visually the zoo was exceptional. So many exhibits that were informative and entertaining. It was so nice to see animals that we dont have at the Louisville Zoo, and to share with staff and other zoo visitors about our own zoo. I was completely satisfied with my visit, other than the heat. I found myself not wanting to leave and cannot wait to take all the kids back for a visit as soon as possible. If you ever get the chance to visit, be sure to check for the opportunity to feed the giraffes. That was a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget. I was in photography heaven at this zoo! Hope you enjoy the photos.

What a face right? This was the sweetest Manatees you will ever meet. All the manatees we got to meet that day were rescued and are slowing returning to thier healthy happy selves. These Manatees will soon return to the wild where they will be among thier own, in an open sea to swim and swim..yay!

What I love about the photograph above is not only the sunshine breaking through the spiked leaves, but the layers of canopy.

Well duh! Who doesnt love flowers! I just thought this was a beautiful display of color and texture.

This lil guy, yep! Strike a pose! What a handsome lil fella.

This is actually one of my favorite photographs from our zoo adventure

Very Kewl!

Sarah's Smile

Sometimes I just like to put alil sunshine in someones day by photoshoping a photo of them I've taken. I work it up and turn a regular picture into a piece of artistic FAB! This is Sarah, the beautiful daughter of my high school bestie. She has the greatest smile, and I just had to share. Work up a photo today on a photo editing program. If you dont have one, visit http://www.picnik.com/app . This is a great site for resizing and all sorts of fun photo editing. I used photoshop CS5 to edit Sarah's photo. But sometimes for fun I use this website to do a quick edit or two. Its a fun way to play and share photos...enjoy!!

About Me

My photo
Louisville, Kentucky, United States
Married and mother of four beautiful children. My life is as busy as a circus. I am always on the go with my family but my photography is as much part of me as my family. Its may passion and joy. I love to put smiles on everyones faces and my photography is an outlet as well as a fix for my own happiness. I love my children and they were the ones who pulled the photographer out of me. As most young mothers we are constantly snapping a camera to capture those many first moments. But friends and family saw something in my photos that made them believe in my ability to create such works of beauty that led me here today. To God I give many thanks for my talents and my blessings. He is the one who enables me to do what I do and he will always be first in my life. I just pray that my camera will always capture joy not sadness and my works will always be appreciated and admired by those who reflect in my lens.
