Confessions Project

Psssttt....can I tell you a secret?

Sure you can..but it's anonymous and no one will know who's secrets are who's. We all have secrets we keep hidden down deep in our minds and hearts. Some just harmless and maybe others not so much. I'm sure you've seen the postscrets website..where real people write on postcards their secrets and mail them in and they are posted online and in books. This is what gave me the idea. Only I want you to photograph your secret as a piece of artwork. Be creative, design it anyway you wish. Its your secret and your art. But there has to be a few rules..I know I know...rules suck! But I want this to be a fun and respectful project that everyone can enjoy. So here we go with the rules below..

#1.NO NAMES will be used
#2 NO FACES allowed in the artwork
#3 NO NUDITY(private parts)
#4 RESPECT everyone reading
#5 IT MUST BE YOUR SECRET
#6 HAVE FUN!

I am giving you until December 31st to send me all your confessions and on January 1st I will post a blog displaying all the confessions sent. If this is something that I think everyone enjoys I will consider doing it monthly or bimonthly.

Now, to give you an example of what I'm wanting you to try. I've decided to confess a secret that I think is quiet silly and embarrassing...but true about myself. Sometimes its fun to just have alil secret that you don't share with others but this is one I was willing to fess up about and share in the spirit of this project.

Its important that everything you want known about your secret is in the photograph. I will not be writing any notes with any artwork. The blog will only be the artwork displayed and my blog about this project.

Your artwork can be done with just a simple photograph or you can get as creative as you would like as I did above. Scrapbook pages are a fun way of getting creative and you can use a regular camera or our cell phone to take the pic. Just please make sure you get a clear image and nothing is showing in the photograph except what your meaning to show. Also, feel free to send in as many confessions as you would like, just remember the rules when participating in this project.

All you have to do is email your photograph to me at revflectionsphotography@yahoo.com

You can use an anonymous email or use your regular email. Either is fine, but its my promise that NO ONE will ever find out who you are!

FYI: If any of the rules posted above is broken your artwork will not be displayed.

This is simply a fun project I wanted to try and even if only one piece of artwork is sent in, it will be posted. I really hope that you will have fun with this and be sure to watch for soon I will be posting a second project I'll be working on in the new year.

Anyone with questions or needs more information about this project feel free to email me  or comment below and I'll answer your questions or help you in any way I can. I look forward to seeing the artwork that comes in and remember, have fun with it!

Projects Ahead...

I(Rev) have three new and EXCITING photo projects coming up in the very near future. These projects are for fun and there is no entry fee or cost to you to participate. I encourage all of you to please watch my blog and take part in these projects. These are an important part of my growth as a photographer and it would be a great way to show your support and join in the fun.

Project #1,  I will post possibly as soon as tomorrow. This project makes YOU the photographer. I will include all the details you need in the project blog to participate. So please keep an eye out for that post in the next few days.

Project #2 will be much more complicated and participation will be a very selective process....I will be asking for volunteers but more details to come with that project post.

Project #3 will be very controversial, delicate, and meaningful. Both project 2&3 will be very time consuming but, I'm looking forward to the challenge and the process.

I don't think most people truly understand what my photography means to me. I'm hoping that after these projects you can see that this is not just about making a profit, but creating something I can be proud of. When I think about the day that I leave this world, I want to know that there is more of me left behind than a few material treasures. I want to know that I left heirlooms of treasures that many generations after me will love and cherish. The photographs of all those faces that my camera has captured will be forever adorn and loved by family and friends for years and years. That blesses my heart more than anyone knows. All the giggles, tiny toes, and sweet kisses left on cheeks of sweethearts....the i do's,  the milestone of seniors, and the birthday wishes. I am blessed to have had the honor to have witnessed some of the wonderful moments in your lives. And I am so excited to know that I will be here for so many more. You are a huge part of my future, my happiness and my growth as a person and as a photographer.

So again, please watch my blog for details of the projects ahead. I'm excited and so looking forward to this journey!

SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS
- by Del "Abe" Jones

There's music of the holidays
Playing on the radio -
There's Christmas decorations
Almost everywhere you go.

The Salvation Army bells
Ring out for the poor -
The "Ho,ho." of Santa Claus
In the department stores.

Carolers sing Christmas songs -
Going, house to house -
Tales about, where no one stirs
Not even, a mouse.

Hoofbeats in fresh fallen snow
Pulling, an open sleigh -
Children asking Mom and Dad
"Is Santa on his way?"

Cracklin' from the fireplace -
Roasting chestnuts 'neath the coals -
The soft murmur of prayers
Said, for the lost souls.

Friends and family gather
To toast, Christmas cheer -
There's sounds of angels singing
(If, you really want to hear.

The sounds of Christmas, fill the air
As we celebrate His birth -
Wishing joy, to all mankind
And peace to all on earth.

Free Photo Sessions

Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Black Friday is a day of spending and more spending... I cant help but get overwhelmed by the amount of money spent on Christmas gifts on that one day of the year. So, I decided to give you something for giving. Friday November 25th, all appointments made for the month of November or December will be free of charge with one of the following.

Receipt of donation to any organization for holiday help

New Toy or Clothing

Cash donation to put given to Salvation Army or Wayside Christian Mission in your name.

If you can think of any other way of giving to the less fortunate in exchange for your free photo session, please feel free to contact me and we will see if that works as well. My goal is to give. To you and to others.

Photo sessions scheduled on that day will be outdoor sessions, except for small children and babies. I will make a special exception for them considering the cold weather. But we still have some warm days ahead with this crazy weather, so if you need to reschedule because of extreme cold weather or rain, that will be no problem. I'm so excited to see how many of you will reach out and give. Its so important to remember those who are less fortunate during this time of year. Its so stressful for everyone but doing something like this makes our hearts and souls warm with joy. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Happy Holidays.

The schedule your photo session please contact me by email with the following information

1. your name & phone #
2. how many will be in photos
3.when you are available
4. how you would like to donate

I will call or email you back at my earliest convenience and schedule your free photo session ASAP.

NOTE: Its my wish that all donations be made no less than $25 donations. Only because it cost at least that much to buy a child a coat or shoes. This does NOT mean I will not accept less, please do not hesitate to contact me if you can only donate less. Every thing helps, every effort matters.

blast from my past

So sorry for my disappearance. But back to our regularly scheduled programing LOL.

Fall Favorites

Fall is a magical time of year. You can almost smell the carved pumpkins and candle wax as soon as the first leave falls from its deathly height. The cool crisp air wisps’ in riding on the bristles of a broom stick and suddenly everyone’s in the mood for hot chocolate and pumpkin pie.

I will be the first one to admit that it is my favorite time of year. Not for the costumes and trick or treating. But to me, it’s the calmest season of the year. I can feel the spirit of the world settling in for a winters nap. To me it’s a restful season. My body tends to sleep better during the fall. It’s a time to snuggle in and put on fuzzy socks. It’s just a comfort I can’t really explain, yet I know you understand what I mean.

This year it seems the season is struggling to come to a full circle. Its battling summers persisting grip on the earth. The fall winds came in the other day and I told my kids that every year for the rest of their lives they will see this happen. I can remember as a child standing firm in my back yard while the winds blew so hard I felt they could knock me off my feet. My eyes squinted shut, I could feel the leaves circling my feet and it was like I got caught in a magical tornado. Nature was twirling around me and even today I can remember how that felt. It was truly a wonderful moment that has stayed with me into my adult years. I guess everyone has a moment like that. A moment that is in scripted into their brains, they will never forget.

What do you love about fall? It’s a beautiful time of year for your five senses. You can see all the wonderful colors of fallorange, yellow, brown, green, and red. You can smell the wood burning, the pumpkins glowing and the chocolate simmering. You can feel the fall winds dancing through your hair and the taste of candy corn reminds you of no other season but fall. And lastly you can hear the howling of the winds as you sit snugly close to a crackling fire. The giggles of trick or treaters can be heard nearby, ringing your doorbell and the crunching of leaves under their feet as they race to the next house.

Camera in hand as usual I wanted to capture a few things around my home that I felt were beautiful reminders of why I love fall so much. I hope you enjoy!

send me some of your favorite fall photos. I may do a post of my fans favorite fall photographs if I get enough. Send to my email www.revflectionsphotography@yahoo.com

don’t stop believing

Yesterday someone wrote a facebook post about looking at their earlier work compared to their recent stuff and seeing how far they've come. My comment to that posting was, as creative people we continuously grow and expand with time. We never stop challenging ourselves and the goals we set are limitless.

This made me stop and go back to take a look at my own stuff when I first began. I too still get blown away by the changes in my own growth. And for that I am thankful, because the impress yourself is no easy feat.

It’s an attitude and set of mind that gets you there. Some have said its because Im Aquarius that Im creative and stubborn. LOL. Maybe so, but whatever it is..I love it and its what Im supposed to do
I love this quote

Whether you think you can or think you can't,
Either way you're right.
- Henry Ford
This video is a perfect example of how if you are determined enough, having patience and persistence, you can achieve most anything. Many times I thought of giving up on my dream, but someone somewhere reminded me that I am strong and I couldn'tt stop believing in myself. Strength to reach goals comes from many places, some from way down inside, and some from people around you. But just remember to dont stop believing!

Here is some of my earlier work, I hope you enjoy!

Ten Years of Falling in Love

Special thanks to Heath Plum of

HHH Photography

Today my husband and I asked a personal favor of a close dear friend, who also happens to be a photographer. We wanted our 10 year Anniversary photos taken and wanted to make sure the session was personal and special. Heath quickly responded with a yes, and by 4pm today we were heading our truck toward Bardstown, Ky.
During our sessions we visited the convent in Bardstown, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Oh, wow! This place is beautiful. If you’re ever in Bardstown you must drive through there and experience the serene atmosphere. We were obviously very noticed being dressed from another era, but we couldn’t distract from the beauty of this place. It’s simply breathtaking.
During our session, we noticed several others using the grounds as their photographic backdrop. We worked quickly because we got a late start, and were losing light. But I am definitely planning a trip to go back just to photograph the campus. If I lived closer, I could see myself going there a lot to just ponder of life and taking a moment to breathe in the calmness of the place.

Per my request Heath used both cameras, his and mine. Being a photographer I wanted the opportunity to edited my own photos, because I had specific editing I wanted done, the coloring to make the photos feel aged.  Again, this was an important shoot for us. Our last photo session was back in 2006. So it had been awhile for us. I have to say being on the other side of the camera is strange..LOL. I found myself feeling awkward and silly. But I ran with it…giggling and laughing and enjoying my moments with my husband. Heath did a great job capturing our personalities.

He was patient and played with angles and lighting. I’ve been doing photography awhile longer than Heath, and I’ve worked with him on expanding ideas and thinking outside the box. Not copying another photographers work, but taking an idea and making it your own. I’ve helped him experiment with lighting, shadows and poses. We’ve even had several get togethers on learning Photoshop and playing with different techniques. He’s come a long way, and I’m proud of him. He is a truly talent friend and I love him. We’ve been great friends for about eight years now and our families have come to be very close over time.
Thank you Heath for helping us create the moments we wanted to capture. We appreciate your hard work and will cherish our photos forever and hope that they are heirlooms for generations after us to enjoy.

Happy Ten Years to my sweet, adorable and fabulous husband. I fall in love with you every day.I love you!

Its important to support all of our local photographers. Every photographer as a unique style and way of shooting that makes thier work thier own. I will always support other photographers and appreciate thier hard work. Each of us have a different eye for things and with that I understand that when you are searching for a photographer to capture you or your family, its important to see the differences we all have to offer in styles and techniques.

About Me

My photo
Louisville, Kentucky, United States
Married and mother of four beautiful children. My life is as busy as a circus. I am always on the go with my family but my photography is as much part of me as my family. Its may passion and joy. I love to put smiles on everyones faces and my photography is an outlet as well as a fix for my own happiness. I love my children and they were the ones who pulled the photographer out of me. As most young mothers we are constantly snapping a camera to capture those many first moments. But friends and family saw something in my photos that made them believe in my ability to create such works of beauty that led me here today. To God I give many thanks for my talents and my blessings. He is the one who enables me to do what I do and he will always be first in my life. I just pray that my camera will always capture joy not sadness and my works will always be appreciated and admired by those who reflect in my lens.
